Community Engagement and Education

Inspiring a lifelong love of bicycling!

BEST is changing to do even more!

Under the Bike Education and Safety Training (BEST) program, Bike Utah served over 20,000 Utah students and taught hundreds more how to ride for the first time. Under our Community Assistance Program, we can offer even more!

Not only can Bike Utah work with schools and youth programs of all ages, we can also partner with community groups to serve folks across the state in providing cycling resources and safety education. We hope to create lasting change and positively impact lives through our cycling support to your community.

Our work can touch on any area of the five elements that are key to successful cycling communities in Utah:

» Complete cycling infrastructure

» Access to gear and maintenance

» Education and information

» Thriving cyclist community

» Inclusive planning and policy

How does it work?

We will talk with you to find the best way to support you, based on your needs and available resources. Together, we can create comprehensive plans tailored to meet you where you are and give your community a cycling boost.

Below are some ideas for the kinds of projects we can do. The list isn’t comprehensive! If you have an idea or a request, please just fill out the form!

Ideas for schools:

  • Enhancing child safety at walking/biking schools through Safe Routes to School planning assistance, bike safety programming, fix it clinics, and help starting a bike bus

  • Increasing school capacity for bike programming through training for PE teachers on how to teach bike safety and first-time riders paired with Bike Utah staff support and the loan of our forty bike fleet for 4th-6th graders

  • Increasing rider safety by working with high schools to provide ebike and bike-friendly driving programming

Ideas for community partners:

  • Supporting your community members that rely on cycling with bike fix days, resources, and safety education

  • Increasing opportunities for community members to ride by providing support in the establishment of new biking programs for children or adults

  • Helping partners identify and apply for program resources and funding
