UDOT began an Environmental Impact Statement in the spring of 2018 for Little Cottonwood Canyon and Wasatch Boulevard in partnership with Utah Transit Authority and the U.S. Forest Service. Due to the wide variety of comments received during the initial scoping period and the complexity of the transportation challenges in the canyon, UDOT has adjusted the study approach in order to identify and evaluate reasonable and practical solutions that will address immediate needs in the study area. The EIS will address the immediate challenges and inefficiencies of trailhead parking and avalanche mitigation in Little Cottonwood Canyon and traffic congestion on Wasatch Boulevard.
The Little Cottonwood Canyon EIS Draft Purpose and Need, along with the Draft Alternatives-development and Screening Methodology Report are now available and the public comment period is open from March 5 to May 3, 2019. Please submit official comments through email or the project website.
A public open house will be held on April 9, 2019 at the Cottonwood Heights City Hall from 4-8pm.
